Candace King Weir founded CL King & Associates in 1972. As President and CEO of one of the first woman-owned broker/dealer FINRA-registered firms, she has directed the growth and development of CL King into a well-respected institutional research boutique.
Ms. Weir began her career in 1968 as an associate in corporate finance with Blyth and Co., leaving in 1972 to form CL King & Associates. In 1984, CL King began managing money for high net-worth clients and successful entrepreneurs. Ms. Weir also founded Paradigm Capital Management, Inc., in 1994, to assume the investment advisory business of CL King. She serves as Director, President and Chief Investment Officer for Paradigm Capital Management.
Mr. Bulger, with more than 30 years of Street experience, is the Chief Operating Officer of CL King & Associates, having joined the firm in 1992. He is member of the CL King Board of Directors.
Prior to joining CL King, Mr. Bulger held operational and compliance positions with First Albany Corporation, Shearson Lehman Brothers, Inc. and the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc.
Mr. Bulger serves on the board of directors of the University at Albany Foundation and the steering advisory committee for the Financial Market & Regulatory Center of Albany/Rockefeller College and Albany Law School. He is member of the SIFMA Institutional Brokerage Committee, which he chaired in 2010.
He holds a BS in Economics from the State University of New York at Albany and a MBA from Fordham University.
Mr. Benton joined CL King in February 2001, as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining CL King, he was the Director of Finance for the Electronic and Technology Services lines of business at KeyCorp. During his career at KeyCorp, which began in 1986, he held a number of positions in finance at both the corporate and line of business levels. Before joining KeyCorp, Mr. Benton was with KPMG.
He holds a BS in Accounting and Finance from the University of Vermont and is a CPA.
Jim Barrett joined CL King & Associates in January 2002, and was promoted to Director of Research/Senior Vice President in 2005. Jim's research focuses on special situations with an emphasis on building materials companies. Prior to working on Wall Street, he spent eleven years in consumer marketing, most recently with Joseph E. Seagram & Sons.
As an analyst, Jim was recognized by The Wall Street Journal in its 2007 "Best on the Street" survey. He has also achieved "All Star" recognition by Zacks and has been ranked among top analysts in the Reuters CFO survey. He is a graduate of the University of Rochester and holds an MBA in Marketing from Columbia Business School.
Chris Edwards joined CL King in 2007 after 20 years in a variety of roles at First Albany Corp. After running all retail trading at FAC, Chris founded the Middle Markets Group with a number of his colleagues. Focusing on the proprietary trading of all fixed-income products, under his management this department grew to become First Albany’s most consistent performer. Chris joined CL King as the Managing Director of its Fixed Income Group and has expanded the group’s capabilities tremendously in his tenure.
Mr. Edwards is a graduate of Fordham University where he received a BS in Economics. Mr. Edwards earned the accreditation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 1995.
Mr. Kenney joined CL King in January of 2005 as the Director of Equity Trading. Prior to coming to CL King, Mr. Kenney was Managing Director and Head of Equity Trading at Needham & Co., Inc. He also served as Head of NASDAQ Trading at Gerard Klauer and Mattison.
He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a BA in Business Administration from Rutgers University.
Jeff Maier joined CL King in 2007 as Managing Director of Professional Investor Services, focusing on Prime Brokerage, RIAs and Broker Dealers. Mr. Maier was Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Neuberger Berman in the Clearing, Prime Broker and Execution Services division. Previously, he was a managing director at both U.S. Clearing/Fleet Securities, and Newbridge Securities/Citigroup. After serving as a Captain in the U.S. Army, he started his career in the financial community at Wood Struthers & Winthrop.
Mr. Maier holds a BA in Communications and Spanish from Hofstra University.
Mitch Meisler was promoted to the position of Senior Managing Director, Head of Equities in December 2013. Mr. Meisler, who joined CL King more than eight years ago, has more than 30 years of experience in several areas of the institutional equity market.
Mitch Meisler joined CL King in 2005 as a Senior Vice President and Research Sales Director. Mr. Meisler was previously managing director in the capital markets division at C.E. Unterberg, Towbin, where for over six years he served in numerous roles, including Director of Institutional Sales, Director of Strategic Planning, Research and Associate Research Director, Manager of the Private Client Group, Operations Manager and institutional salesperson. He was previously affiliated with PaineWebber, Ernst & Company and Lehman Brothers.
Mr. Meisler is a graduate of the State University of New York Binghamton and received his MA from New York University.
Scott White delivers the full range of investment banking services to corporations and boards. He has closed over 150 investment banking transactions representing more than $100B of securities. He is a 17-year veteran of Credit Suisse, Citigroup and Bank of America and joined CL King in 2009. Prior to CL King, Scott was a Managing Director for five years at Bank of America, responsible for the Consumer & Retail sector and former Head of West Coast Mid-Cap Investment Banking. In the late 90s, Scott was EVP of Corporate Development at Budget Group, a public Fortune 500 company, where he oversaw acquisitions totaling $2.5B in revenues. Scott has completed transactions in several sectors, including consumer, retail, industrials, business services and energy.
Scott earned a JD and a BA with Highest Honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
